Reusing solid materials at home
with fourth-grade Students from
Dulce Corazón de María School
Abstract
Since the Constitution of 1991 in Colombia started
environmental policies and regulation by the Ministry of
Environment; this article presents the results of the project
which focused on the development of a strategy for reuse of
recyclable solid waste during the quarantine in children of
fourth-B from Dulce Corazon De Maria School, for the
development of the proposed strategy, several artistic
workshops were held manually and other types of activities to
acquire knowledge about the topic covered were carried out
through virtual platforms. This research developed a
quantitative approach supported by action research, as it aims
to generate knowledge in the participating population on the
good use of recyclable solid waste. This initiative brought with
it a great benefit that was the non-waste of recyclable solids
and their contribution to the fight against environmental
damage, which is a global problem.

Resumen
Desde la Constitución de 1991 en Colombia se iniciaron las
políticas ambientales y la regulación por parte del Ministerio
de Medio Ambiente. Este articulo presenta los resultados del
proyecto investigativo que se enfocó en el desarrollo de una
estrategia de reutilización a los residuos sólidos reciclables
durante la cuarentena en niños de cuarto b del colegio Dulce
Corazón de María, para el desarrollo de la estrategia
planteada se realizaron varios talleres artísticos de forma
manual y otro tipo de actividades para adquirir conocimiento
acerca del tema tratado todo esto se realizó por medio de
plataformas virtuales, esta investigación desarrollo un
enfoque cuantitativo apoyado por una investigación acción,
ya que pretende generar conocimientos en la población
participante sobre el buen uso de los residuos sólidos
reciclables. Esta iniciativa trajo consigo un gran beneficio que
fue el no desperdicio de los sólidos reciclables y su
contribución a la lucha contra el daño ambiental, la cual es
una problemática a nivel mundial.

Introduction
The project was characterized mainly by the contribution
against the environmental damage in our planet originated
especially by humans since they are the cause of the effects
that cause the deterioration of our planet. With this project
wanted to take as an initiative the reuse of the recyclable solid
waste that are accumulated in our homes and also generate
more environmental awareness providing a change from
home to our environment, Another situation that this project
carried out was the proportion of new elements of daily

use, and also contributing with the decrease of expenses to
buy new products.
As such the main function was to generate a method of
recovery of recyclable solid waste since it was not used in its
entirety, generating an increase in household waste, without
taking into account that several of these solid wastes can be
made multiple objects which save economically and are
beneficial to both the environment and humanity, being a
positive factor for many things in general. Many people
discard recyclable solids without having in mind that they can
be reused leaving aside this option, only throw them and often
not in the proper way, which is inside the containers, avoiding
recycling in a correct way.
Materials and Methods
For the realization of this research project, several aspects
were taken into account, For the development of this project
and What it was wanted to achieve it was categorized as
qualitative the project was categorized as qualitative
approach as it wanted to look for a social phenomenon in
which the processes of daily life are used, trying to set aside or
reduce the numerical intervention thus giving a more
dynamic participation in the activity of reuse of recyclable
solid waste influenced much by action research; the type of
research used
.
The objectives presented were developed by carrying out the
proposed activities or workshops. The general purpose was to
develop a method for the recovery of solid recyclable waste in
the home, while promoting the use and recognizing the
importance of recyclable solids. As mentioned above for the
fulfillment of these objectives’ workshops were held, these
focused on the elaboration of artistic crafts that had as raw
material recyclable solids and also the expansion of
knowledge videos were included, the surveys and an elaborate
exhibition about recycling and all the topics that compose it.
All this with the aim of solving the problem posed and
providing a solution in which environmental aid is provided
