Consequences of the Covid-19
Abstract.
The Covid-19 pandemic has
strongly impacted the hotel industry
in the municipality of Villa de
Leyva because, with the sudden
quarantine and closure of various
establishments, occupancy levels
decreased. After all, tourists were
no longer coming and the economy
was affected for both owners and
employees of the hotels, among
others, which caused the hotels to
close for some time and led them to
seek a strategy to be able to subsist
and recover at the same time.

Pandemic for the Hotel Sector
in Villa de Leyva

Resumen.
La pandemia del Covid-19 ha impactado fuertemente a la industria
hotelera del municipio de Villa de Leyva porque, con la repentina
cuarentena y el cierre de varios establecimientos, los niveles de
ocupación disminuyeron. Al fin y al cabo, los turistas dejaron de venir y
la economía se vio afectada tanto para los propietarios como para los
empleados de los hoteles, entre otros, lo que provocó que los hoteles
cerraran por algún tiempo y los llevó a buscar una estrategia para poder
subsistir y recuperarse al mismo tiempo.

Introduction
In early 2020 in Colombia, a terrible health crisis spread under the name
of Covid-19, forcing people to comply with a mandatory quarantine in
the country of Colombia, which affected tourist areas and the hotel sector
in the municipality of Villa de Leyva where tourism is paramount. For
this reason, a problem arose in the operation of these establishments and
for this reason, an investigation was carried out to identify the
consequences that the hotel industry had and the strategies that had to be
implemented to continue with its operation and recover.
Likewise, this research could serve as a learning experience for the hotel
industry and thus prevent losses in a future pandemic that has a similar
condition to the one currently being experienced.
Materials and Methods
The research was carried out in the country of Colombia, in the
department of Boyaca, specifically in the municipality of Villa de Leyva,
and presented a mixed nested approach, since it brings together
quantitative and qualitative variables that help the results obtained not
only to cover the economic consequences but also the personal ones,
which is why surveys were carried out with ten hotels, which were
closed and open to taking quantitative and qualitative results.
That is why they were used as tools and thus the results were obtained
since the Covid-19 or coronavirus was a new type of virus that was found
and can affect people that originated in Wuhan, in the Hubei province, in
China, causing serious respiratory problems definition found in the
Portal Clínic, therefore, causing damage to the economy and the
operation of hotels that were created as a building prepared and designed
to temporarily house people, especially those who are traveling, either
for tourism or for some reason. work reason why this definition was
taken or taken into account from the website "Definición ABC" and that
is how it negatively affected the proper functioning of the hotel industry.
