The use of social networks by
quarantined tenth grade students.
Abstract
In recent years social networks have had a boom and
exponential growth, so much so that they have become part of
the daily life of many people who are constantly reviewing and
updating their social networks at every moment as they reflect
their public life and what they want to show the world, social
networks are a very good tool and that is favorable for many
people but social networks are also a double-edged sword that
can affect the user in different ways that today in the world
much of the globalized population that has access to the
Internet has at least one social network and many of these
people spend much of their time. This article reports the
results of a research project applied to teenage students of
tenth grade who answered questionnaires and activities
related to the use of social networks.

Resumen
En los últimos años las redes sociales han tenido un auge y un
crecimiento exponencial, tanto así que se han convertido
parte del día a día de muchas personas que constantemente
están revisando y actualizando sus redes sociales a cada
momento ya que en ellas plasman su vida pública y lo que
quieren mostrar ante el mundo, son las redes sociales una
herramienta muy buena y que resulta favorable para muchas
personas pero las redes sociales también son un arma de
doble filo que puede llegar a afectar de distintas maneras al
usuario que hoy en día en el mundo gran parte de la población
globalizada que cuenta con acceso a internet cuenta con al
menos una red social y muchas de estas personas destinan
gran parte de su tiempo. Este articulo reporta los resultados
de un proyecto de investigación aplicado a estudiantes
adolescentes de grado decimo que debían responder a
cuestionarios y actividades relacionadas al uso de las redes
sociales.

Introduction
The social networks although they are used all the time by all
since they came to our lives for good bring problems that
seriously affect those who use them very often then first we
must make the students selected for the project understand
the damage that gives the excessive use of social networks and
as we are in times of quarantine can become more harmful
and often these are indispensable for communication even
more in a lockdown as this time, then a solution to this
problem will be raised that being the excessive use could be
put schedules and already know the dilemmas that bring with
it take precautions.
This research project focuses on the dilemma of social
networks and why we devote much of our time because the
population studied are adolescents who have enough free
time and the Internet at their fingertips therefore social
networks represent much of it and therefore they who have
knowledge of the use of social networks and content they
enjoy most and the use they give to social networks is a whole
set of information that gave way to data analysis and get to
answer the dilemmas of this, and it is a matter of great interest

for those who are concerned about the time they spend in
these media because they will know how bad it is for them to
use social networks excessively and being these an option that
gives people not to get bored and it is also addictive will be
novel to address this issue and encourage it.
Materials and Methods
This project was applied and carried out with high school
students of tenth grade, through a virtual way because of the
quarantine could not be carried out in person, however
thanks to technology, they responded and attended the
surveys and activities proposed for the development of the
project that was raised through online surveys and meetings
video call in which students participated in order to collect the
data in an effective way.
This project was developed in the municipality of Villa de
Leyva, Boyacá, located in the province of Alto Ricaurte in the
Dulce Corazón de María School. The surveyed students are
teenagers between 15 and 17 years old. Twenty-one students
presented their evidence, but from them the chosen
participants were eight who were with whom the data analysis
was done and for this purpose the following were used:
Surveys, videoconferences, audiovisual material, forums and
a field diary where what was witnessed in the activities was
written down. The material collected was the answers to the
surveys and forums given by each of the participants, which
were a total of three surveys and a discussion of the time spent
by participants in the social networks they use the most.
The project needs both quantitative and qualitative methods,
since figures and facts are needed to analyze the use of social
networks and their impact on tenth grade students, which is
the focus and main objective of the project. The information
collected was analyzed so that the participants, who were
eight in total, had such a participation that they were chosen
based on a criterion of participation, highlighting their results
for that reason were analyzed resulting in responses to the
objectives set.
The data were analyzed using a table divided into categories
that resulted in the categorization of the results obtained.
